Co-operation between AYiERA iNiTiATiVE and GSA enables education of vulnerable children in Korogocho slum

At AYiERA iNiTiATiVE we believe that education is by far the best empowerment in fighting poverty and ignorance.

In an endeavor to promote education among the most vulnerable children and adolescents of Korogocho slum, Gymnasium Siegburg Allestrasse (GSA) has immensely come through to support our idea of ensuring children stay in school.

Partnership for education

In the partnership which began way back in 2016, GSA has supported vulnerable high school students from AYiERA iNiTiATiVE. This cooperation, facilitated by Stiftung Zukunft für Kinder in Slums has enabled slum children benefit from scholarship programs, thereby keeping them in school throughout the year.

Just recently, AI Org director, Mr. Hamilton Ayiera visited GSA, in a bid to strengthen the bond between GSA and AI. The focus was on discussions with teachers and pupils of the GSA  about the situation in Kenya and especially in the Korogocho slum and to present the work of AYiERA iNiTiATiVE.

The students wanted to learn a lot about life in the slum, the importance and practice of school education as a prerequisite to escape poverty, to what extent AYiERA iNiTiATiVE uses football to motivate children and young people for school education and vocational training. The students were thrilled that the girls at AI are fully integrated into the sports activities of AYiERA iNiTiATiVE.
