Imagine the biggest pile of trash you’ve ever seen. It probably doesn’t even come close to Dandora. People are sifting through it – thousands of them –ceaselessly searching for the next piece of refuse they might be able to sell for a few shillings. And then, in the literal shadow of all this hardship, there’s laughter. Children racing about. Footballs flying. Joyful chaos. Music, dance, art – all the things that make us human. And talent. So much unbelievable talent.

On the 20th of July, Ayiera Initiative held Slum Footie Tournament. This social event provides a platform for slum residents to learn, deliberate, and discuss the most prevalent challenges facing them in their daily lives, to understand the challenges and develop relevant solutions to some of these prevalent problems.

AI and German Doctors Nairobi have partnered to promote free medical services to Korogocho slum residents

Ayiera Initiative and German Doctors Nairobi, through Baraka health centre have partnered to undertake a free monthly community health outreach program for Korogocho slum dwellers. Through Community Based Outreach Program (CBOP), Korogocho slum residents will now have access to regular medical consultations, checkup and treatment.
